Contemporary Northwest Coast Art at the Burke Museum

Robin K. Wright uncovers the history of box drums and their recent revival, while Emily Moore discusses the repatriation of stolen house posts and introduces the concept of "propatriation" for commissioning contemporary replacements.

Kathryn Bunn-Marcuse explores the significance of adornment in expressing tribal and personal identity through clothing, jewelry, and tattooing, connecting the past with the present.
